WE OFFER:

Jewelry Service. We offer many routine services including ring sizing, basic stone setting, chain soldering, watch bracelet sizing, etc. Many of these services can be done on the same day you stop in, but we do appreciate an advance call if you have an urgent job. Additional charges may be applied for rush work. Specialized work, wax carvings, stone cuttings and similar high-end services are also available, but do require more time. We work on all types of jewelry and materials. Our expert jewelers are experienced working with platinum, 18, 14, or 10 karat gold, and silver, as well as with baser metals. Antique ring sizing, diamond resettings, restorations of broken castings—no job is too complex, or simple, for Waldron and Rhodes. Custom Design and Fabrication. Making one of a kind pieces of jewelry is something everyone here at Waldron and Rhodes thoroughly enjoys doing. State of the Art Equipment. Our state of the art laser welding station enables our craftsmen to execute repairs and custom designs that would have been impossible a few years ago. Allow us to create the ring of your dreams or repair the “un-repairable”. Repairs on costume jewelry, titanium, metal eyeglass frames, and minute delicate work on antique jewelry are now routine jobs. Many repairs can be done while you wait, but again, please call ahead if you have an urgent situation.

Watch Service and Repair. Waldron and Rhodes can service your mechanical or quartz movement watches. We have a certified quartz watch technician who can fix your Seiko, Movado, Concord, Citizen, Tag Hauer, Timex or Caravelle quartz timepiece right here in Rutland. You don’t have to wait the 6-8 weeks some jewelers take to “repair” watches by sending them away to some far-off service center. We can usually provide you with a free estimate of the work your watch needs done in a couple of days, and get your repair done within a couple of weeks at most.

We also have an outside shop of local skilled master watchmakers who service high-grade mechanical movements such as Rolex and the like. Our expert watch technicians can tune up your favorite watch so it works like new. We can repair or replace any quartz movement to original factory specifications. Our watch technicians can also replace batteries and gaskets, reseal crowns and stems with silicone, clean bands and cases, polish or replace crystals. We can even service the watch movement to exceed the water resistance specified by the manufacturer. We are so confident of our watch technicians’ talents that we back each job with a one-year warranty, and offer a two-year warranty with any new quartz movement we install.

Expert Appraisals of Value. Need a value estimate for a piece of jewelry? Our highly experienced gemologists are always available to provide you with whatever type of appraisal you may require. We are regularly employed to provide insurance, estate, divorce settlement and collateral appraisals on a regular basis. Attorney and trust department inquiries are welcome.

While we welcome walk-ins, we do appreciate advance appointments for business conducted for attorneys, bank trust departments, and estate representatives or executors. And because we are such a busy shop, for your convenience we suggest you call in advance if you have a number of items you’d like us to appraise.

You can also make an appointment for us to visit your home, office or bank for maximum convenience and discretion.

Formal written appraisals are generated at the rate of $75 per hour with a $40 minimum charge. Most appraisals can be done the same day. All written appraisals include detail digital images. Our experts will not give “while you wait” written appraisals due to liability issues.
Verbal “appraisals” or estimates of value, identification, and the like are gladly given free of charge. If you are looking to sell diamonds or other jewelry, watches, silver or objects of value we will make verbal offers without charge or expectation.
